Although the movies we hear about the most are the studio backed blockbusters like IRON MAN or STAR WARS, it is the INDEPENDENT FILM that is the real HEART of the film business. It’s within that framework that filmmakers can create the stories that touch an audience most deeply. Working outside the studio system frees innovative people to create at their most honest and uncompromised level.

Of course the “bad news” is that they have to do it with little or no money.

 

One of the primary reasons that Daniel Roebuck is bringing his film to the Lehigh Valley is because it’s here, in the bosom of his home town and the valley that he might find film lovers sympathetic to his cause.

 

Even if films or television are not your “thing”, perhaps you love living in the beautiful LEHIGH VALLEY and would enjoy seeing it on the big screen. If that’s the case, then helping with GETTING GRACE would be a great step toward that goal.

 

Making a movie involves so many levels of enterprise from the obvious ones like casting and shooting to the less obvious BUT EQUALLY IMPORTANT aspects such as housing, flying, feeding and transporting a small cast and crew.

 

To that end you might be surprised as to how you could help us make GETTING GRACE the best movie we possibly could for the small budget that we have. We will try our best to acknowledge any help we receive either on line or in the credits of the finished film.

 

We would happily accept:

 

CASH - (okay this one is obvious. If you’d like to help us in that way, I would ask that you contact one of our producers  right here. 

 

FOOD - We will need to feed a crew of approximately 25 twice a day for 24 days. We would love to partner with local or national restaurant chains to provide meals in exchange for special thanks in the film’s credits.

Or, individuals or Church groups that would be open to taking on a meal or two would also be most welcome.

MUSIC - Although we have a composer who is a Lehigh Valley native ,we are very interested in featuring local artists on our soundtrack. If you have interest in sharing your fully produced original music with us, please submit here.

AIR MILEAGE - We will have a lot of cast and crew flying back and forth from the west coast. Any donated air mileage is extremely appreciated and will help us keep costs down.

 

HOTELS- We will need to house our crew for about a month. Same as above, any free rooms or discounts would be acknowledged on screen.

 

CARS / PASSENGER VANS - If you have an extra unused car that we could borrow for the duration of the filming (or when it’s available), it would save us on car rental. Generally speaking, the cars would be only driven by crew in the local area during pre-production and production.

 

OFFICE SPACE – We would be looking for this primarily in Bethlehem area and would ask that it be vacant for the months of June and July.

 

HEAVY EQUIPMENT AND OPERATORS - We will need a scissors lift and perhaps another bucket vehicle for a day or two.

 

MANPOWER- Volunteer work will be the backbone of our production. Although we can’t offer much we can promise that it would be an enjoyable and eye opening look into the actual production of a movie. Imagine, you could be the only one on your block who actually knows what a “GAFFER” does on the set. Plus, there will be ample opportunity to learn about the process, should you be an aspiring filmmaker, yourself.

 

To be clear, we would welcome anyone with the heart to help and would think we could find the right fit for anyone who would like to volunteer.

 

As many here in the Valley have never had the chance to work with Daniel Roebuck before (unless it was in a local theater back in the 70’s and 80’s) we can assure you that it will be a happy and welcoming place to work and any efforts will be appreciated.

 

We could use:

 

DRIVERS to bring cast and crew from hotels to locations. Also needed for Airport pick-ups.

 

GRIPS and ELECTRICIANS

 

PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS - There is a lot of running around when making a movie. We would love to find artist to help on the ART DEPARTMENT and great cooks to help with our CATERING needs.

 

We could use volunteers to work as assistants to the actors or department heads. It would be a heck of a way to spend the summer. That we can promise you.

 

HAIR STYLISTS, MAKE UP ARTISTS AND COSTUMERS to augment our professional crew.
